It's apparently "ultra rare" I have never heard of this before. Is it real?

Is that price real? I'm not that far gone, yet. Close up shows a distinct running of
colors from the white unto the blue.

This looks familiar enough to me to think that its is a prototype piece. I recall a while back seeing photos of a collection from a former employee of Tyco. There were mock ups of the Silver Streak that resembled nothing of what it was produced as. I recall several of those "fantasy" road names being mocked up to varying degrees of difference from the ultimate production version. I'm sure there was a mock up version of what became the Midnight Special. Just can't say for certain with my foggy memory that this was one of those pieces.

I also know that the collection of prototypes were sold off at some point.

Based on what the seller has been selling the past few months, he had a pretty extensive collection, including some of the harder to find pieces that don't pop up on ebay too often.

So for my two cents, I 'm saying it's probably a one off prototype when Tyco was working on concepts for those Fantasy Roads like Silver Streak, Midnight Special, even the colorful Chattonooga GP.

Here it is courtesy the Wayback machine, because the link above is currently down:

That is pretty neat- and I never did notice, before, the
GG1 "fuel tanks." Pretty funny, that.
