My LOTW is this TYCO 5628 Santa Fe GP-20 that I got running last night. It was in pieces! Now it runs great.

COTW Oct 6 to Oct 22 2016 Here we go ANOTHER week of interesting Model cars and conversation. * My tale this week is one of WOOOO !
** As with all things, ** perfect execution of a plan ** is not always the final result. * Woo is me !
* First for model of the week a Complete Gilbert #200 6 v AC Hudson.
Next the object of My Woooo ! ** To get a working #200 converted to DC.
* Well I was close. I had stripped a converted drive with chipped and broken drivers. Pulling and replacing the drivers with a perfect set from another old #200. This was done because I could not disassemble and remove the conversion, so next best thing is replace the drivers. * All went well as the photo shows.
* All drivers and gearing in place till that test of operation to see all those perfectly aligned drivers spin in unison together in that satisfying view of all parts functioning. My expectations were high. I griped the frame in my right hand with my thumb on the first driving gear and rotated the gear. FLOP WENT THE FRONT SECTION OF THE FRAME BREAKING OFF FROM THE FRONT SECTION. * WOOOOOOOO. WOOOOO. WOO. HOW COULD IT HAVE HOPPENED. WOOO.
* Needless to say. I GOOFED AGAIN ! FRANK- THE BUTCHER OF FINE TRAINS

I thought that one looked familiar Justin! I used to own it! Back in 2010:

I must have sold it and you must have purchased it form him, (or his heirs).

Remarkable restoration on the Gilbert. Impressive. I'm sure you'll get it all back together before long. Also, it is great to see that classic GP 20 pulling a hot shot. Is that a PT or an MU?

That's unfortunate. Good for you, but it only leaves me to believe the new (from me) owner must have passed away. I assure you I would have listed it correctly and he likely paid somewhere between $50 and $75 for it.
Good for you in the sense you likely got it very cheap.

My LOTW.. a small 0-4-0 steeple cab brass electric locomotive... perfect for the small layout or inner city moving...
Here is a before and after of one I restored a few years back. These locos are so mall, to get from A to B took less than an hour...
I love these little locomotives. I might have 5-6 of them by now.

One of my favorite Geeps. DCC equipped, new axels, and a heck of a detail job make this one of my favorites.

From what I've heard (Which I admit is not much) about The Rock and it's engines, that's probably the best the old girl's looked in years. Actually watched a video recently about a GP9 being rebuilt with Genset tech and such, was an interesting video (if a low-quality documentary rip ). It was an ex-Canadian National locomotive, despite the logo blacking, the livery gave it away clearly.
sim-al2 Also since they cut track maintaince the trains had huge trouble making over the railroad by the end 純那 yeah They did a Rock Island volountarily

This is my LOTW....
It is the rarer color (Grey) of the TYCO Red Box Atlantic Coast Line F9. I picked this gem off of EBay for $5, a few months ago....

After getting educated by Kristopher on the merits and interchangability of the Mantua MU 2 motor into Tyco shells, I gathered up these four pieces and will harvest the MU 2 motors. The Burlington, and its hand rails, is destined for a Canadiana. I believe the SF F is from a somewhat hard to find set. If anyone wants the shell at the cost of postage, let me know.
DMoney, I can definitely see the charm in those little beauties. AF Kid: wicked nice score.
Gotta love that Bankruptcy Blue, Ray!

Hey. Sorry it's been so long. I've just been really busy lately with work and whatnot. Anyways, my LOTW is an Atlas/Kato RS-3 in Great Northern livery I recently picked up at a train show for only $25 in practically mint condition.

Oh yeah, definitely. I can't argue with that. Unfortunately, most GN electrics (at least in HO) are brass and extremely expensive. But yeah, Ray, I do have to admit, without lube, my Kato RS-3 runs amazingly well. It's easily one of my best runners. Up there with some of my Bachmann Spectrums, Athearns, and even some modern Atlas stuff. And considering it's from the early 1990's... That's incredible.

I have two engines to post pictures of this month.
Last month I purchased a junker collection of Climax and Box Cab partially completed kits from Raysouthernpac. Between the three kits from him and spare parts I had, this is what came together. They run beautifully and quietly as there is no idler gear. There is a large gear on the motor shaft that runs directly onto the bull gear resulting in smooth and quiet operation.
The shop boys at Cleland Lumber are a little sloppy with the painting.

Here is my LOTW. I can finally scratch this one off the list. WP GP-20. I might try to gather every roadname of the GP-20 like I did with the Alco 430 but IDK.

Nice! Never knew about a Tyco WP. Most cool.
Those Roundhouse pieces, what with their geared down trannys and flywheels have always been a favorite of mine.
I have had this one for years. Been used, abused, DCC'd, back to analog, lost the fly wheel sometime ago, but she never quits.

Tyco made the WP GP-20 for 1 year only: 1979. They are fairly uncommon and even harder to find at a reasonable price. Tyco also made a matching WP caboose which is extremely rare and super sought after. One recently was sold on eBay for 300 dollars. As a matter of a fact a member from this forum bought it! The more I think about it the more the price makes sense for me as, from what I understand, they barely made it to the production level.
