Sometime back, there was a discussion about the Tyco 1776 Spirit of America loco that had been produced with the Presidential Seal on the side. There was something about the Government making Tyco remove it from the loco. Anyone remember that? I've just come across 11 of the Presidential Seal decals and was wondering......... maybe??

plus this

or am I ? Any thoughts on the matter??

Tyco did produce locos with the Presidential seal on them. They only did this on the early run of Alco 430s. I have one new in the box. The value of those locomotives can be more than the regular ones if the seal is in good shape. The locomotives you have pictured below are the revised brown seals. They also made some that have gold crowns above the eagle's head.
My mint 430 with the Presidential Seal.

Are those Tyco decals, or from some other source?

I'm not sure on the maker of the decals. They are enroute now and I will be checking when they get here.
Update: The decals arrived today. They are made by a company called "Allied Decals, Inc." out of Cleveland, Ohio. I don't know if Tyco bought their decals from a third party or made them in their own shop. However, these are identical to the ones on the locomotives.

That's very cool that those decals are available. Of course now we have to watch out for fake Tyco presidential Sof76's!
