This was actually a "real" passenger set used used by Conrail. IIRC, Conrail called it the "executive Train" see the pic of the real thing. I just finished this yesterday. I had to re-do the Rivarossi E8. When I used the suggested sharpie, the blue paint got screwed up. The railings are almost too narrow to paint. The paint color I used matched the original closely, though it didn't come out like that in the pictures. The passenger cars are "Scene Master" formerly Life-Like. I used Testor's paint with my special mix semi-gloss for the clear coat. The passenger car decals are actually Microscale "N gauge".
Pics of the real train....

BEAUTIFUL set, AFKid. I had seen pics of the Conrail train that was painted dark green, but never in the Conrail blue. Very nice.

Nice work Pete. What's the deal with the Sharpie? Is it suppose to be able to do fine lines on things like handrails?

The handrails were too thin and the ink screwed up the blue paint.... So, I had to strip and re-paint the whole thing. The paint on the handrails is from an airbrush and a thin sable brush. Then I had to touch up the blue area next to the hand rails. A PIA.... to do.
