 Seems like a lot of these actuated devices, such as the crossing light above, were in imitation of the Lionel train activated animation. Seen a crossing light activated with a wind up spring, a pressure plate, and an old fashioned alarm clock bell under the gate house. Never have seen that HO stuff work worth a lick. In this piece I simply ended up wiring the gate house guy to a manual on/off switch so I can pop him out for visitors or photo ops. The pressure plate that was supposed to trigger him popping out for about the time it took for the pressure of a locomotive was better at derailing cars than much else.
Anyways, I look forward to seeing what you can do with it.

I figured it was an activator due to the extra screw
The lionel gate worked well when I used it AND unlike its O gauge counterpart it is HO scale
Though I am sure many here knew that
