I wanna repower my Alco Models E44. Heard motor and universals are the weak links. What's a good motor nowadays? And how should I go about sizing the flywheels? I'll use NWSL universals.

The best size flywheel is the one that will fit in the space you've got. If there's no room for a flywheel but you do have a good motor and gearbox, then it'll do fine without. I believe you eventually got a Sagami and will be using an NWSL gearbox? Hope it turns out well!
Darth Santa Fe, doing weird and challenging projects for the fun of it!
