I've got a layout under construction at home. I used 1/2" pink foam. It's not perfectly level and has minor gaps. What is a good way to level out and fill the gaps? I've never worked with foam before.

| I leveled the gaps in the foam with a skim coat of joint compound. But something more flexible like a vinyl spackle might be better.

I hope you post photos of your work soon, with some of the things you've picked up while on the road. Glad to hear you have a home base again; I had the impression you were living out of the Coffin.
My wife and I did that in our first year of marriage, saving money for me to go back to college. It was a unique honeymoon, to be sure.
Diesel was considered expensive at $1.15 a gallon, if that gives you some idea how long we've been together.

I'm still on the road. I'm thinking about getting it out of storage and take it to a friend's house.

Depending on the gap size, you could buy a can of sealing foam that builders use to seal around pipe joints going through walls. It's not pink, more yellowish, but would have more give and be more flexible like the pink foam itself.Spacklilng and other hard materials will eventually crack and pull away from the pink foam, it's not a good bonding connection. I'd go with the can of sealing foam myself .

I'm thinking that sealing foam might contain a solvent that would act upon the pink foam. It might be prudent to put a little on a scrap of pink foam before trusting your layout surface to it.

| I'd also test on pink foam first with the Great Stuff or equivalent spray foam. That would probably be best if it doesn't eat it first.
