Started working on an engine yesterday to power my AMC automobile consist, and I picked the exact same engine as TheTramp posted last week. :) The motor is already isolated, should be an easy conversion to DCC. I've also started removing the SOO paint with brake fluid , in preparation of an AMC logo / repaint. Motor contacts were dirty, and I oiled the bearings up too, then it started running good. No flywheels on it, but it seems to have good throttle range. Will see how this old RSO made unit does on a layout.

Very nice loco, Jerry. Can't wait to see the new logo on it and the consist of auto-loaders, TOFC flats, and such in tow.
My LOTW is the same as it was last week because the postal routing decided to have a laugh and see to it that the things that were ordered and shipped out after the loco arrived first, while the loco didn't show up til Friday. Anyway, Tyco Union Pacific E7:
This thing looks lovely. Should run beautifully too as soon as I have the motor reassembled (did the magnet upgrade).

Love the bloody red on white. You really made the colors pop!
City of San Francisco E7 by Tyco? That is pretty wicked. Again, yet another bit of Tycomania I never dreamed existed. That is the bomb, as the kids, nowadays, say.

I'm very happy that it does exist - never thought I'd be able to fit an EMD E-series diesel into my budget that easily, but thanks to Tyco...
I want to replace the "City of San Francisco" herald with a "City of Portland" one, though, since that's the named train that called at Pocatello

Wow, that is a beautiful LOTW, JNXT. Mine is Bachmann's version of a 2-8-0 from the late 90's in Southern livery.

New sheriff in town. I paid $109 for the powered front and dummy rear Acela units. Bucket list: ride this train.

Tender? Are you sure you don't mean cab?
And it's to allow for maximum visibility when reversing, among other things. A lot of small British shunter locos as well as narrow-gauge tank engines were built that way.

My LOTW is my super detailed Bachmann 4-6-2 PRR k4 Notice the automatic whistle cord, antenna(behind the smoke stack), marker light wires, etc Also, I replaced the original wire detail thats near the firebox with thicker wire! Before:

Very nice K4, and nice little additional touches. Do the marker lights operate or are they mere dummy detail?

The Marker lights were on from the original model. They are the wrong kind, when PRR modernized them. I would light them up but: a. They're the wrong kind of marker lights (as said from above) b. A SMD LED costs $3.50 (you heard me, ONE light bulb is $3.50) Glad you like the model! :D

Where have you been pricing your SMD LEDs?? I find them all of the time on eBay for pennies each.
I put headlights and all kinds of SMD type circuits in my locos for just pennies. I'm working on putting bi-directional lighting in my 4-6-2 and the entire circuit (with 2 SMD LEDs, 6 SMD resistors and an SMD bridge rectifier) less than $1.50.

I get them from Ulrich models. M parents (Im 15) banned me from Ebay, saying that it is too addicting... I know they are cheap off Ebay, but on-line the cheapest I've seen are $2.25 each.

If you're 15 and turning out masterworks like that K4, then you have quite a successful future ahead of you.

Sorry. I didn't know you were only 15. Makes a real difference. That is some really fine work for your age. Looks like your experience far exceeds your age. I'm gonna enjoy your work.
