Some time ago I remember reading about a neat idea for getting better electric pick-up on Tyco diesels with PT by replacing the plastic wheel side of the non-powered truck with metal wheels. I have searched for this post without any luck. Please post the link if you know what I am talking about.

The main problem in doing this is that Tyco used 1/8" axles on there wheels and I've not been able to find insulated wheels with this size axle. The person that came up with the answer to this problem devised some way of making axle bearings to fit the Tyco PT truck. Thanks.

Richard, I vaguely remember seeing that thread here a few years ago. Seems like they fabricated bearings out of brass tubing, but I can't be sure.

The search function is pretty much useless.

Wow Jerry, you've done it again. That's the very post I am thinking about too but finding it is like pulling hen's teeth. I have tried so many different searches, all to no avail.

I remember Darth Santa Fe substituting all-metal wheelsets on non-power torque diesels.

Power torque would be tougher. I think some of the gears are built into the wheels with power torque.

That was the article I was half-remembering. Unfortunately not for the PT.

That's the one!!!!! Many thanks scsshaggy and to Darth Santa Fe. Much appreciate the helping hand. I wasn't planning on doing anything to the power truck, just the dummy truck so I think this will work OK on my PT diesel as it will give me two more pick-up wheels.
