On Monday 2/8/16, the idiot mailman was too lazy to walk an extra 50' to my side of the condo building, instead he left the two packages at the wrong side of the building and the two boxes were subsequently stolen later that night.
1) Was a NIB Athearn PRR Bay Window Caboose kit
2) Was a Tyco "A-A" and combine, coach and observation Rio-Grande passenger set in LN condition.
These were stolen in the Northern New Jersey area. A theft report was filed and the local PD actually went door to door on that side of the building looking for the two packages.
Two theft reports were also filed with the US Postal Inspectors.

Sheesh. Sorry to hear that. I'm really starting to dislike the post office.

Luckily, my postman drops mine off right at my door. Sorry to hear that yours screwed up
like that, but it seems that the postmen today are getting very sloppy in the delivery of
packages. I hope you find them. If not, I'd file a claim against the Post Office for the value.

Walt, Ben only steals out of dumpsters and other discard locations

The USPS is not what it was, but what do you expect when they get their funding cut by congressmen who don't grasp that government services are exactly that: Services. You put money in, you get service out. They're not for-profit businesses, so they shouldn't be treated as such. Treating them as such tends to cause a degradation of morale, discipline, and quality.

And this is why you need to request "delivery confirmation" when you get stuff mailed to you!

THIS is why I told the mailman to put the packages in the old fridge we has
I once had to put a piece of steal on the floor of the fridge cause it leaks when it rains or snows
leaving a puddle of water

Almost all packages come with the tracking number that so confirms that the package has arrived. The mail person will mark it left at door, or left with individual. Kind of puts one in a bind if its not really left at YOUR door....

Tracking is no longer optional on packages.
