I had an Round House RS3 kit. The motor was decent. The issue I had was in the trucks with the gears. One of the gears lost a tooth and that was it. It never ran well and there were no parts. Other issue was that unlike the Athearn Blue Box locomotives it was not as friendly with the 18r curves I had at the time. Now all of this is based off of one unit so I may have had a lemon.

I had an RS3 until I monked around with the motor too many times installing DCC. It worked fine. I have a couple of box cabs, they work great to this day.
