Ever since I first saw a restored "Lady Lionel" set, I fell in love with the pastel colors. And so, I have taken it upon myself to paint up some of my freight stock in pastel colors like those in the set.
This Roundhouse 3-bay hopper is almost done on the outside. It's taking a while to do this since the base color was black. Still, the paint is being cooperative and drying smoothly (knock on wood). I also weathered the wheels and trucks. Will weather the body too, once I decide what this hopper carries.
Refrigerator car by unknown maker (I suspect Life-Like), painted mint green. This one's closer to done, paint-wise. Just need to finish painting the undercarriage (Originally white like the rest of the car) and to paint the details.

Well, the original "Lady Lionel" release from the '50s is quite rare on the secondary market. It didn't sell well at the time, and a lot were either returned to Lionel or sometimes repainted into non-pastel colors by the shops.

So does the "Girl's Freight" set from 2012 and the reissues of the original (now renamed "Girl's Train") as well as the "Girls' Steam Freight" clone by Williams.
However, that's all O scale, and as much as I'd love to get into O even if only for the "Girl's Train"... It's just not within my means unless I were to save up for the set to the exclusion of all else, and my space constraints wouldn't let me do as much with O anyway.
Regarding the projects featured in this thread, what do you think of the progress so far? How'd the weathering on the wheels turn out?

I like the pastel colors as well. They look good on street rods also. However, I do like colors of all kinds on different things...

The gentleman who I bought these from lists them on ebay. His name is Buddy and he is very reasonable. I do not see one listed currently, but he will make one if you request (I did for the Boys set). http://www.ebay.com/usr/bulosch

Mkay that's nice and all. But this is a customization thread, not a want-to-buy thread

Oh sorry I didn't realize you could only post if you did the customization, not someone else. Gotta remember that...

I'm sorry for snapping. Thank you for the tip, I will keep it in mind if I ever win the lotto or otherwise accumulate cash to dabble in O.
I'm just frustrated by the lack of feedback on my work, which is one of the purposes of making a thread here.

Here's another one, a robin's egg blue boxcar with buttercup yellow doors. Like the lilac hopper, this actually corresponds to a car from the Lady Lionel set
Expect more entries here soon, and further progress on the hopper

Nice looking cars!
Are these airbrushed or just brush painted?
