I am fascinated by this kind of thing. Just received a link to the New York Public Libraries recent posting of many thousands of documents, photos, and the ilk . . . dating to the 11th century. Takes a moment to download and figure the navigation, but once you click on something you can type in the search engine . . . "trains" for example.

this is the 1881 plat of tennesse and the cranes park to red cliff,they are 1 metre long or yard roughly so to big for a scanner,so unless i can find another way these are as good as it gets ken

The Rock Island had an interesting operation at Limon. The westbound Rocky Mountain Rocket would be split into two halves, one half proceeding to Colorado springs and the other half to Denver over UP tracks. Since pullmans, coaches and baggage were grouped together on the westbound train, it took quite a lot of moves to split the train so that each half would get its portion of pullmans, coaches and baggage. Also, one half of the train would be pulled to its final destination using a B-unit with a built-in cab (it was designated an AB6 instead of E6B). The train was combined at Limon on its eastbound run.
