yesterday barry commented on the windows of a bobber caboose,whilst trying to find a prototype,came across these bobbers,how many variations and ideas for them are there,it seems endless

If I understand correctly, the nickname bobber has to do with the poor riding characteristics of a 2-axle caboose. Sometimes, railroads would convert bobbers to 4-axle cabooses to correct their ride and safety. Here's a shot of the Mantua/Tyco bobber and a 4-axle conversion:


The 4-axle caboose was pieced together from a bag of junk box parts that included the small caboose-like cab from either a spotlight car or boom tender, and a chassis from the Tyco streamlined caboose. I shortened the chassis to match the body and pieced the thing together.

Meanwhile, I got a bobber caboose and redetailed it with separately applied grab irons and roof walks. Liking how that looked, I revisited the 4-axle caboose and gave it the same treatment. I also body mounted the couplers for better operation.
