the layout has been retired back to boxes, the table is a clean green field waiting for the next world i create.
I've just gotten a bunch of lego trains to mess with :D

I hadn't checked this page in a few months. My teeth are loose from my jaw dropping to the floor.

I understand about the room part. You COULD stack a layout on top, make it a double-decker, spread out stuff from top to bottom. Your vertical space doesn't seem limited... Anyway, awesome layout you had laid out, I have bits and pieces of US-1, thing that is hard to find is the plain gray straight pieces, easy to find the Y turnouts, but just simple gray straights are like gold, hard to find, for long runs of track. I've seen very few of those for sale, but can find the turnout junctions all day long. Thanks for sharing your layout with us. Hope to see it again next (this) year, too.

the double throws seem to be even more coveted then the straight track.
you can find lego straight track all day long on ebay, lego boxes the track really lamely they give you a few straights usually 4 or 8 because the curve sections require like 16 pieces to make one curve.
the they give you a straight track set boxed with triple the amount of flex track... hello lego how about a modern track straight box set with like 20 pieces inside, i guess they figure most kids have no space so no point in straight tracks.
the good news is the crazy lego collectors liquidate on ebay so you get tons of set pieces that you could only get in one boxed set and they have like 15 of them becauase they kept buying boxed sets just for a couple of car pieces since lego doesn't sell a car starter set(another lame lego thing)
the 9 volt lego trains are a different story.
with the new IR system what is cool is you have control over 8 trains from one controller.
I have 3 lego trains going now :), have to start putting some buildings up.
as for layouts i have ZERO desire in a permanent layout i swap what even in and out on the table to avoid boredom :)
I'm building some more loads and cars for the train. expand it a little bigger then add the buildings.

Nice layouts , Dan.. But opposite of myself, I could never put up a temporary layout. But my only other real hobby is building cars and trucks. I worry a little bit right now as talk of moving to Arizona may leave me taking my layout down some time soon. I really don't want to take it down now or 5 years from now . But I would be happy with this layout in a basement in Tucson, out of Ohio's gloomy winters!! Anyway, have fun with all of your hobby interests!
