My British layout is a mixture of let 'em roll and watch what yer doin'. Two
level crossings require one to keep a hand on throttle or this happens.

I have been working out the bugs such as leveling a joint here and there and
it is paying off. Runs very smoothly now, except when I get distracted for a
moment.

That's pretty close to needing the crane, although you could probably do without a crane if you are clever.
