Took this entry off my 0.02 of the DC DCC topic and felt it need not be there...
I just gotta get some "running" track down. My inspiration, lately, has been dull at best since my wife was diagnosed with cancer. Went to the hobby shop yesterday and just didn't feel like getting anything...
My ambitions a couple months ago was getting those shelves up and displaying all my locomotives... and you pick your fav' and tell me to get it running, etc.
The week of August 23-Sunday... 24th Monday began with $500 put into my wife's car, Again for replacement of an incorrectly installed alternator. 25th... our 1st wedding anniversary trips curtailed because we were $500 short... we stayed in town. Fire smoke was included and that wreaks havoc on my wife's asthma... we were house-bound Tuesday/26th Wednesday... we didn't go outside except for... 27th Thursday trip to doctor to check mysterious lump on wife's chest... 28th Friday's greetings included urgent appointment to doctor's office... said to my wife: "You have cancer..."
October 25th, I turned 47... went to church... wonderful church family...
My trains... bought an IM SD40-2 dcc/sound a month ago, obtained an Atlas BC Rail C420 with dcc/QSI sound... but then my passion stopped. As I said, I went to the other hobby shop yesterday and just felt like nothing was what I wanted... should I take a long break, or what?
My train of thought is well off track.
Thoughts or prayers?
John
I don't have a one track mind. It depends on the turn-out. "I love your catenary!" Is that a power-trip or just another pick-up line?

Thoughts AND prayers for you, John. I can't say I know how you are feeling, but I have been in a similar place before and things like model railroads lose their priority. The trains will wait patiently for you. Focus on what you need to - we'll be here if you need us. Take care.

| Sorry to hear that John. Maybe not today and maybe not tomorrow, but everything is going to be ok. You are in my Prayers.

Clearly, your wife is top priority. No wonder other things matter less during this crisis.
Thoughts and prayers are both in order, and forthcoming of course.

| There is always hope since there are excellent cancer treatment centers here in North America. The internet has many options to help your wife. One such place which helped a neighbor of mine is located in Philadelphia Pa. Phone number is 888 866 4012. Web site is Cancercenter.com. Never lose faith. Good luck.

You're obviously a man of good character, John, as you put the priorities where they should be - on your wife and marriage. Nothing is more important. That said, you are distracted from your sideline interests, model trains, and that is OK as well, other priorities take precedence. But don't give up on them. They're there for you to enjoy when you want them to be, they don't have to be the center of your life at the moment. They'll wait patiently for you. Selling them off won't give you much money for other things, I wouldn't think, and you could regret it later. For now, just let them lay quietly, and give matters some time to settle. Eventually the stressful things will go away, and you can make a more rational decision then about your involvement in the hobby of miniature trains. Best thing for now is do NOTHING, and make decisions later on the trains. Wife, car come first, but no reason to hastily exit the hobby right now, either. Prayers are with your wife and you in this unexpected life event, hopefully all will turn out well in the end. Keep us appraised of the situation. God bless,
