How do you determine if a Mantua 4-4-2 of the brass and metal construction is prewar or postwar? One is on eBay right now. Little high but has a best offer option. Really nice piece.

The boilers on the Pre-War Reading Steam Locomotives are cast bronze (thick). The Reading Post-War Steam Locomotives are stamped brass (thin). The Pre-War locos have an open frame, while the Post-War have an enclosed gearbox.

The Atlantic on eBay with a lot of detailing is Post War.
