In 1957 Kramer Brothers (the owners of Life Like) purchased the Varney HO line from Gordon Varney, they continued to produced HO trains under the Varney name until 1968. In 1968 train production was moved to Taiwan and the Varney name was dropped in favor of Life Like. Your SW7 is circa 1968 and can also be found in a Varney box.

I have two of those but with the earlier metal shells. Great pullers and smooth considering the time they were made. I use the momentum feature on my power supply to make up for the lack of fly wheels.
