have checked internet,sargent was close but not same,any ideas

Better late than never; since no one else answered, these are a pair of pre-magnetic "K-type" Kadee couplers from the late 40's-very early 50's. They should have springs mounted in the notches in the back of the shank. I have only ever seen 2 pair of these.
