I have a Bachmann Spectrum Magnum Ultra Plus transformer that has stopped producing the variable dc output. Has anyone here had this problem or knows someone who may have a fix for this. I'd hate to have to go in and "reverse engineer" this unit to find the problem. I use it to check my old locomotive motors for current and voltage draw.

I've had transistor throttles fail, and they tend to go to full throttle if they burn out. I don't know whether your pack is a transistor throttle, but just in case, I figured I'd mention that. In that case, I don't know if it's a burned out transistor or if the potentiometer that regulates the transistor fails.
If there's no output in the variable DC terminals, then it might just be a broken connection inside.

I don't know anything about electrical transformers, but at my lhs there is a huge shelf devoted to power packs where the variable doesn't work. Mostly MRC Tech II's
