Hey Tyconaught:

An incredibly nice Tyco/MU C430 in New Haven Paint arrived yesterday. It runs beautifully. Only issue is broken rear coupler, easily fixed.

I tend to doubt I'll collect all the "MU" 430's but we'll see. Some of the Paint schemes do nothing for me. For example I don't like the Cheesie paint on the 430, and used to really hate the paint on the SOO version which looked too contrived but, I'm warming to it. The one I want the most is the pRR unit. I don't know anyone who's actually seen one though!?

One thing thats changed is I was testing a Phase 2 Super 630 with a PT engine and it ran beautifully, which had the effect of making me reconsider my position on PT units some.

Cheers,
Gareth

There once was a PRR 430 for sale on the 'bay,
The auction photo was posted here that day,
When the auction was done,
Someone who's sceen name was bnsf had fun,
and got a rare Tyco collectable for reasonable outlay. [^]

Hey Gareth. Nice NH 430. Paint looks great.

Not all Power Torques run the same. I have several different engines with PT motors and almost all of them run differently.

I wonder if all new PTs could have been tested if they would all have run similarly? I wonder if the break-in makes a difference, afterall most little kids, don't break them in they just try to make them run fast.
My newest, mint-like, PTs seem to run equally well. Ones that have obvious milage on them vary in performance and some of them can be brought back to run well.

It seems to me like it depends on when the PT was made that determines how they run. Both my Amtrak GG1s (1980) run the same, sluggish at first and then work up to speed. My A-team and Transformer engines (both from mid-80's) have a point where they either accelerate like crazy, or slow down to a crawl. My earlier 1970's engines with PT's have a steadier pace and are more syncronized to the speed on the transformer.

That's my experience with Power Torques. The older the better...back when it was quality before quantity.
