I've never seen one so I don't know. It sounds cool, though.

Interesting that the box says it comes with Sherman tanks but they are really Patton tanks. I assume the original tanks were lost and the owner replaced them the Pattons?

I noticed they weren't the original tanks. Maybe someone should post on E-bay and attach a note to that auction telling that the set isn't original and why. Maybe seller doesn't know. Frank

I have a Military Set in near mint condition in the original box. It states it comes with Sherman Tanks, but contains Patton Tanks. I have seen a few others with the Patton Tanks in place of the Sherman Tanks . My guess is that the Sherman Tank were unavailable for a time and Tyco substituted Patton Tanks in their place.
Are the Sherman Tanks more valuable than the Patton Tanks on the secondary market?

This is from a old ahc mailer sales flyer I have. I think from 1962.

I actually have the engine that goes with the set. It doesn't run, though, those dang boosters, I've never seen one running.

My 2 boosters run. I rarely see the Army 0-4-0T much less the cars.

Then how come do they never seem to work?

Gotta make sure the pick up shoe is insulated from the frame or anything that can cause a short circuit. Also, that the shoes make good contact to the drivers .

On top of that, the wheels always seem to be loose so they move freely but the insulation thing definitely explains half of them.

The Booster and Shifter wheels are identical so you must have a bad unit. Shifters are indestructible (at least the ones from the 60's and 50's).
