This is an oil painting that I did during my time in art school. It is a copy of a Monet and was made just to get a feel for the style of the artist.

Very pretty.

"A lot of modellers out there who go to these train shows see broken HO stuff and go, 'This is useless' when, in reality, they can still be used for modeling whether it's as a prop on your layout or a cool project to make something old new again."

Por favor, Microbusss!

The Monet study gives me the feeling of what it must
have been like to experience this new technology.
People who spent their entire lives within ten miles
of their birthplace are now boarding this veritable
time machine and are sped to different regions.

Funny you mention that. I grew up with road trips and can kind of take for granted the once amazing distances those involve, but I've never been a seasoned globe trotter. Once, though, I went on a tour that chartered a train from Guayaquil to Quito, Ecuador and it was just plain surreal to get up at home one morning and, the next morning, be riding a train through pineapple farms and sugar plantations.
