I had this Rivarossi E8 with the decals lying around, so I painted it up and finished it over the weekend.

Very nice custom. I can totally see Rivarossi making something like that back in the day.

Next step: silver Sharpie marker on the grab irons and edges of the screens--if you have a steady hand. Silver sharpies work WONDERS for this stuff for me.
Beyond that, looking sharp! Always thought it was a shame that EL's freight E8's never made it into Conrail blue like this as a fleet. Boy, would THOSE have ever been a sight to see! Or, departing from reality a bit, maybe some blue sharknoses, FA's, centipedes... I can dream

PRR 4800 thanks for the Sharpie tip!
I was thinking about using a roller like the craft shops sell, to roll silver paint on the silver on the screen.
Just think as the screen being covered with black soot....
I am working on 4 more NJT SW7's..... 1- Amtrak MoW orange SW7 Calf, an Athearn Blue Box AC4400 SP patched to UP and a NJT E60CF....

Great job as always AF Kid. Enjoy seeing your finished projects
Conrail question: are the grab irons silver or white? Always assumed they were white

Railings were painted white on Conrail locos.

Rats. But either way, from 12" away, the Sharpie is a light enough, dull enough silver that you can't hardly tell if it's silver or white on loco handrails.
