Those are some pretty interesting cars, I must say. My COTW is a Tyco/Mantua cattle car in Rio Grande livery.

My COTW is a Bachmann Morrison-Knudsen hopper. As far as I can tell this is a mostly fantasy scheme, although I have found a similar prototype as a MOW ballast hopper. It's also my current slippery slope.

Yes, Micro, I am dying of jealousy, a few shades greener than that Swansons. As to the Dorito car, to quote a phrase: "GIMME." Ninety degree of desert baked landscape out here. This is one of the cooler days of summer.

I have that exact same car. I put roller bearing trucks on it with atlas wheelsets, but they're not atlas, trucks, I dunno who made them, and I body mounted Kadee couplers. I also made a homemade scrap load for it out of ho scale cars, they're not Hotwheels, though, they're these junk ripoff things.
I'm home schooled, I love to work on cars and anything with an engine and wheels, I love model RR'ing, and listening to Dire Straits.

Mantua metal side Crazy Water reefer. Impulse item that I "had" to have when I saw the reference to Mineral Wells, TX which is about 60 miles from where I am.

* My car this week is one I thought was a double and for parts. Well due to the way Gilbert made there HO, and there use of Varney for undecorated cars they would paint and assemble them, and sell. I pleasantly found that this car was unique and not a double. Gilbert had there own dies for tank cars. theirs were of a larger than Varney 10,000 gallon car. In many of there cars they sold a certain car like this Number 517 Mobilgas red tank car in both their tank car, and the Varney tank car. I already had the Gilbert car and this new one is the Varney. Got lucky I guess. * Here is the Gilbert/Varney Mobilgas tank car. frank

So Frank, I gather that Mobilgas tanker is destined for restoration then? Do you have the parts to do it, or does it add purpose to future train show visits?

Just won this on evilbay. A Bachman Old Time Exploding Combine. It needs one part repaired, but has the Safe that goes with it.
The car together.

The car exploded.

Even has the safe that came with it.

The other wall part is an easy fix. I'm just glad the safe was there as well.

Cool car oldtimer! I wonder what is needed to activate it? Never knew Bachmann made that.

Will figure out the trigger when the car gets here. First one I've seen as well. Had to have it when I saw it tho (even ignored that it was Bachmann). Was $11.11, total price.

Wow, an exploding Combine! Never knew THAT one existed! I like it. My cartribution this week is an N gauge open passenger excursion car, first I've seen in N gauge. Only $10, so I got it. I have a red one in HO like it, by Bachmann as well. I like these excursion cars for some reason.

Actually it was in good shape till I messed with and broke the frame. So now I'll be looking for a Varney 2119 tank frame. Probably get one by breaking down one of triples of something. frank

I know I have a couple extra Mantua and/or Varney tank frames around somewhere, so if you come up empty-handed, pm me.

Butch and Sundance got there first. Left an IOU in the dang thing.
Will try to get it fixed this weekend. The trigger is a bar on the other side of the car at the bottom of the coach. You have to push it down to get the car to explode. It even came with the original box.

Nice looking car. Sometimes those action cars seem a bit crude (to facilitate performance I guess), but this one looks pretty natural.
