Ok, here is the low down on the 2-4-0 Bowker locomotives.

The first production run was made in 1968. The domes and cylinders were made of turned
brass and they used a open face motor in the tender to drive the locomotive. The name
" J.W. Bowker" was printed on the side of the cab. It was removed from the later
production runs. It was available in the following road names:
Virginia & Truckee
Kansas City & St. Louis
Western & Atlantic
Beauford & Morehead
York & Peach Bottom
Belfast & Morehead

The last three road names were painted in different livery colors whereas the first three
road names were red.

The second production run was made in 1971. The domes and cylinders were made of
plastic with a "gold" chrome plating and they used a silver colored can motor in the
tender to drive the locomotive. It was available in the Virginia & Truckee and the
Kansas City & St. Louis road names.

The third production was from 1974-1977. The domes and cylinders were made of
a gold colored plastic and they moved the motor from the tender to the locomotive.
It was available in the following road names:
Virginia & Truckee
Kansas City & St. Louis
Western & Atlantic

Thanks for the schooling on these. I have never happened across one so I have zero. A Western & Atlantic would suit me just fine though. Maybe someday.

In my opinion, you should look for the 1968 version of the W&A. It may have the open face
motor, but it is the best looking one of the bunch. They show up on evilbay and go for about
$35 to $50 each. The drive shaft is usually missing, unless you get lucky, but they are easy
to make. The last photo is of the 1974-77 production of the W&A. The earlier versions can
be hard to come across.
