I was given this on Wed., sort of as a consolation for NOT getting a metal Athearn RDC!!
I am consoled.
This has it's original box, and might be a clue to it's maker, maybe.
Anyone recognize it?
Missing a few parts.
Rods, crank pins, valve gear, tender chassis and trucks.
Still, very nice, I think.
Evan

It's probably a Tenshodo, circa 1954-1959. Multiple runs of this loco as a kit were imported, most by PFM, one by Aristo-Craft, with a total of around 500 pieces between them, plus at least as many more factory painted versions sold assembled.

Although my brass book is dated (1995) this isn't a high dollar piece, average resale depending on run varying from $120-$200. But it's still probably worth more than an Athearn metal RDC, unless that was an untouched, pristine MIB example.

Looks like some extra parts, wonder if it gives the option to build with spoked or boxpok drivers? The gear ratio included is different from one to the other. That or some other parts got lumped in with it.

Thanks for the response, guys.
David at the Railhead suggested New One as a possibiklity.
I think he gets a perverse pleasure giving me these basket cases.
Just to see what I can do with them. I'm OK with that.
The other parts are what I dug up from my parts stash.
The tender trucks are brass passenger Buckeyes.
It may be possible to adapt Mehano rods and valve gear to fit.
I have a Pacific I might sacrifice for this. Maybe.

'Busss, I think I'm on my own on this one.

Yup, Tenshodo was my first guess looking at it. Looks like fun in a box to me

Yeah, I liked it, too.
There was only the one.
Had a good look at it, and was even allowed to touch it.
Shiny.
But, I've managed to round up some parts for the Hudson.
Even without rods, I should have it running the track soon.
