Hi trainfan. While the guys here are generally very friendly and helpful to everyone it would be a little bit helpful to us to have a bit of an idea where you are. Maybe mention you are in "central Ohio" or something like that.
When I see your avatar being Rock Island, I figure you are in Illinois. Probably 5 or 6 hours from me.

His profile says Cedar Rapids, so you're looking for a central Iowan.

I am embarrassed that I was too dumb to just simply look at his profile. Anyway, I sure do understand the physical limitations causing railroading problems. That's why my layout will probably always just be a "plywood pacific".
Hopefully someone will be able to help. Is there a model railroad club near you someplace?

There is also another Tyco forum at www.tycodepot.com

Please take photos of your work. It doesn't have to museum quality, it just has to be yours. Let us know how it goes. I am excited to see. I live in El Paso, TX, lucky for you- I'd really make a hash of it!!
Please tell us more: what scale? You have a particular era or style in mind, or do you just love it all? It's all good here!

Tony, what kind of things are you wanting to do first? You mentioned soldering. Do you gave a solder iron or a gun?
Have you got track laid yet? Are you planning to use roadbed or?
Fill us in. We are all like little kids and want to know everything.

Well Connor we may not be able to do hands on type help but we can offer advice and teach Tony how to do whatever he wants. We may have to do some real thinking to figure out the techniques needed to accommodate his disability.

| but if i had to pick id say for an era about 1930 to about 1998 as for lacation it is a shortline that serves a small town the railroad runs daily trains for locals and tourists the motive power is ether donated by another railway or saved from scrap

It sounds like you are in the planning stage still. Need to figure out a track plan. There are lots on the Internet and there are books available to help. Do you ever look at eBay? Quite often you can find how-to books for cheap.
