I notice the guest pages doesn't show where the person is looking at now. Is there a reason for that? Used to go to that area and find some interesting older posts that had been forgotten...

I can't argue with that.Still, it is somewhat puzzling.

I was surprised but I can't say I am disturbed, after all, this site is free and I don't deserve an explanation about anything, since I don't have ownership of any part of it... It's not my life but I do enjoy using it daily... It's a great place to mingle on Tyco trains...

I do hope that it continues to operate as it did when Todd run it... But if changes are made I feel that we will all get by OK...

AND if it would go away completely, ask yourselves this,, What will Microbusss do now???

I don't know what led up to all this, but I do know that life is unpredictable. Thanks to Todd (who I don't really know) for keeping this place together for as long as he did. I hope the new owners let us carry on in our usual manner.

If we don't get rid of the republicans and democrats, the country will continue to become even more controlled by the government. The government wants fear thru America so people become believing they need more government! Remember, The government killed JFK and has kept it covered up for 50 years... to most citizens in the country... WE lose our freedoms for the government to make us safer?????!

Before long they will be telling us what to wipe our butts with...

That's a bit deep but I love it (how deep it is).And the sad part is, most of it is actually quite true. Like, for example, the Snowden incident where a brave man by the name of Edward Snowden whistle blowed on the government on their "spying on all citizens" thing that they were doing a while back. He is now wanted by the US government and he doesn't seem to mind it, he doesn't regret it one bit. Now that's patriotism, right there, standing up to government takeover. And my teacher's actually talked about this as a whole, believe it or not. He said a lot of people are worried that the US is slowly moving from a capitalist government to a communist government, which I wholeheartedly agree. In fact, we already are, technically. Less and less people are voting, the government can easily take away everything we all own, so many people relying on welfare (it's a communist thing), etc. And because less people are voting (the average age for voters is about 50), they are causing us to slowly move to communism. And as shown by history itself, communism has good intents, it just never works and corrupts every nation that uses it, takes away individuality in people overall, etc. If we as a nation continue on this dark path, we are going to become basically like the communist nations in the world like the former Soviet Union, China, North Korea, etc. I'm sorry if any of this offends you, but I feel this must be addressed at some point.

It won't be called "communism" though, the buzz word is socialism - progressive socialism to be precise. And doesn't everyone want to be progressive?

I've mouthed off about politics too much on here in the past, and I said I wouldn't do it again. Fortunately, I can keep that promise because you guys are doing it for me.

But in all seriousness....I read an article where Obama suggested "mandatory voting." Maybe that wouldn't be a bad thing, because nearly everyone I know who doesn't vote is basically a "Libertarian" type who is fed up with the system. We could get some new ideas in instead of the old boys that run it all now.

Peru has mandatory voting. I learned that when I was down there. At that time, they'd just had a president leave in total disgrace. It did not appear to me that the random votes of those who don't give a rip had served them well at all.

Mandatory voting is yet ANOTHER way of the government having their hands on what we do.

As for any political statements I make, they are not directed at any one person or party... America has been run by both parties and has failed miserably at getting any better. Until the two party war is over... things will stay the same or get worse. The countries only hope is to get a non-party bunch in office. The worse the country gets, the more power government has over us, as we lose more freedoms...

That's the issue. And yes, I have heard that Obama is thinking about making mandatory voting. Not sure if I like that or not due to the fact that it takes away more freedom (freedom to vote).

Mandatory = removal of the choice to do so or not.
I most always vote, especially in recent years - but it gets under my skin when people crow about "if you didn't vote, you have no right to complain"

You can't serve the common good unless there's a common notion of what "good" is. The war between the parties just reflects a larger division of ideas among the population as a whole. Frankly I'm tired of the Wall St. vs. Main St. or Beltway vs. us scapegoating.

Until we the people get a common moral compass, know who we are and what we stand for and vote for where we stand instead of where we sit, this country is toast no matter whether we have two parties, three parties or the no-party party.

There is no silver bullet. We traded freedom of speech for campaign finance reform and Heaven didn't break out on Earth. We can have term limits, but I've seen people be incumbents for many years without becoming insiders, and I've seen insiders in elections with no incumbents. We can condemn the parties, but they're only what WE made them in the primaries.

It's a mess because we're a mess and it'll only straighten out when most of us do.
