This was a great place for a long time Todd; I made a lot of good friends and learned so much that enhanced my enjoyment of the hobby in all aspects. You should be proud for exposing that "Four-letter-word of model railroading" to a group atmosphere, where we could all partake, share, and discuss. Even hands-off libertarian style, it's no small task to keep it going. I regret the situation at hand has spurred this decision, but I understand it completely. I hope you will not be a total stranger... You are always welcome wherever I roam. Thanks for 10 good years, and especially the hospitality you extended my family and me in your home. May Happy Rails gently guide you on your journeys... - Tony Lucio

Thanks Todd,
You have provided a great service, and a great environment for a long time. Many thanks.

Who's replacing him? I have no idea but I only hope he doesn't screw up what made this forum good. That's my only fear when something like this gets given to someone else who's never been involved with the forum before. But at the same time, I look forward to what he'll do.

I really do hope the change in ownership doesn't change the forums more than losing the Trading Post. Good luck Todd to whatever your future brings and thank you for bringing us these forums. Good luck to the new owner.

I am uncertain how you could miss it. It seems like the top post in every forum on this site.
Titled "Change of Ownership":
Posted by Admin (March 15 2015 to April 15 2015) I am transferring the rights and ownership of this forum to a 3rd party person not currently associated with the forums. I do not have the time or want to manage the system anymore. How things are run from that point forward are soley up to the new admin.

I've been asked to restrict access to members only so the information contained herein requires a login and is not exposed and used by other sites without permission as it currently is.

I've been asked to remove the trading post forum as no liability is wanted by this person for any deals gone wrong.

Those measures will take place immediately.

I will be leaving the forums. I do not want to be contacted in any manner.

The announcement isn't displayed when browsing Active Topics...I didn't see it until I saw this post and went back to browse specific forums.

Good luck and thank you to Todd!

Hopefully the new owner introduces himself soon. I'm curious to hear the reasoning behind blocking everyone from viewing the forums unless they're logged in. I understand the whole "don't want other sites stealing our content" thing, but that just seems like a good way to kill new member registration. I've seen plenty of new members post about how they lurked for months before joining. It's kind of hard to make the decision of joining without seeing what's going on here. I guess we'll see what happens...

Don't know about active topics. But on my browser, once I reply to a message, the screen comes up with ONLY the departure message, and I have to re-load the page to get back...no "backing up".

Yes I hope so too! And hopefully that will clear the fog of speculation. People tend to fill in the blanks on their own when unknown things happen - and imagine the worst when doing so.

I too never saw the original post(s) until THIS one came up. Color me flabbergasted. Todd, I didn't know you, I don't even recall seeing posts by anyone named Todd, but I would like to thank you for your time in putting together? the Tyco Forums site, and running it ( behind the scenes I guess ). Not sure of the history or various people's inputs to creating and maintaining it, but it IS an integral part of my life these days, I have many online Tyco friends now due to this site, and can't imagine life without it now. Whatever the former depth and breadth of your involvement with it, it has created a lot of goodwill and friendships that I have seen and encountered, and hope that going forward it continues to stay that way. Shutting down outside access without joining doesn't strike me as a particularly welcoming move, but time will tell. I personally will tell you Good job! and Thanks! for whatever it is you were doing to keep this site going. Wish you luck and the best in whatever you plan to do next. Sounds like there are some issues behind the scenes that we don't know about, just hope it works out OK for all parities. Thanks again, and appreciate all that you did that most of us never saw.

I second that wholeheartedly. All the best to you Todd!

And re: not seeing the post: It is under "GIC's Corner", which is why I never saw it (not that I don't ever go to GIC's Corner ) but no I never caught it under Active Topics, which is what I always check when coming online.

I haven't looked at all 9,742 forums here (joke), but so far it's the top post (sticky?) on each forum.

Ahhhh....well that makes more sense lol. Was too big to see!
In my 'real' job, I am involved with proofreading a monthly bulletin. Usually if a mistake sneaks out, it's in a large headline, not in the tiny details that were scrutinized carefully.
