I had some job business to take care of this morning, then after that was over, I hit some local stores in an area I used to work in about 7 years ago. Found 3 places with trains today, the first had all Life-Lke stuff, but said 1950 train, $99.99. Naw, too much. Had the Champion Spark Plug boxcar and the Eat-it-all-sno-cone boxcar, but way too much. Another thrift store I hit about a mile from there had just opened last month, didn't see much, went for a couple shot glasses, the proprietor said anything else? , to which I replied I didn't see any model trains...he looked at me and said I didn't get them out yet. I wound up buying a nice Tyco Super 630 Bicentennial ( I think that's what it is ), a Shazam boxcar, and a pudding boxcar, all Tyco. $40. Engine looks mint, no railings in the box though. On the way home, I hit the last thrift store, my local favorite, to look for diecast cars. No diecast worth mentioning, but then I spotted something - a BNSF locomotive hanging vertically! WOO-HOO! First time I'd seen any HO trains in this store. A Walthers engine, for $5. Took that down, looked a bit more then spotted the 2nd engine, a Life-Like Santa Fe diesel, missing some wheels on on truck. Oh well, parts! $5 also. Got them both. :) Wonder if that Walthers unit has DCC in it? WOUldn't THAT be great? I'll check it later! I did score a Bachmann G scale train last month or so, but this is the first Iv'e seen ANY HO at all. Been hoping to run across something sometime, today was my lucky day. And Thursday I hit another train shop at lunchtime, and they'd brought in some vintage stuff to sell, I wound up with some Mantua passenger cars, a few Tyco cars, too. Overall it's been a good couple of train days. My wife would kill me. Ben will be gettng something from the train store, though. Will post that sometime soon. will take pics later and post them as well. Glad the Forum is back up, I was have SEVERE TFWS ( Tyco Forum Withdrawal Symptom ), including quickness of breath, shakey hands (checking the website ) among other symptoms. Glad it's back up, my health is getting better by the minute! All for now,
Jerry

Ok, the wife's gone, off for her massage appointment, so I can get the trains in the house, take evidence photos ( er, pictures ) and post them here.
Above, nice Tyco Bicentennial diesel, very nice shape!

Above, my very first Thrift baggie HO score! Found these two in my favorite diecast thrift store on the last stop home, boy was I shocked! The Walthers BNSF is the nicest of the two, the L-L Santa fe is missing axles on the non-powered truck. Both were $5
A Microbusss GIMMEE!, he's been looking for this one, so he can stop now. :)
Another Dodge tractor flat for my AMC train, 2nd thrift stop
A Hunts pudding boxcar, my 2nd thrift store find and score.
These 3 passengers were from a LHS on Thursday, been wanting those Mantua ACL cars. No Obs with them, maybe he will find it eventually in another batch of boxes he brings in.
Timken Boxcar, another hard to find. My Dad invested heavily in Timken stock, and lost quite a bit of money back in the day. Just a rolling reminder now...
Shazam, from the 2nd thrift store stop. Very nice condition.
So, that was this week's hot finds and buys. Eager to see what that Walthers BNSF has under the hood, though!

That's some pretty sweet finds you've got there. Most of what you've got are pretty good in my book. And yes, Microbusss will be saying "Gimmee!" like crazy once he sees the golf car.

The AMF is yours, Ben, the BNSF is a keeper for me. I tuned it up last night, the wheels were just totally covered in crud and oxidation, and many of the contact fingers weren't even touching the back of the wheels anymore.... . The unit looks awesome, but obviously it was well-used on dirty track. Once the Dremel wire wheel had done it's duty, and I'd readjusted all the contacts, it runs sweet and silent now. Added a touch of grease to the axle gears, and it just goes back and forth like a dream now . Best $5 I've spent in awhile! Looks easy to DCC as well, I found a webpage where they had done just that, very good design to allow installation. This is the Walther's Trainline engine, which basically was a takeover of the old Train Miniature line, obviously with all new stuff. Made around 1996. Engine new would have run about $70. And the exterior on this shell is mint, whoever owned it before took care of it. Other than a loose engine short hood, there's no broken railings, nothing to marr it. Overall , a great model train day. Going up to an early Spring auto flea/show today in Maryland, maybe run across some model trains there, too. There's also a train show about 30-40 miles from there to the east, if I don't stay all day at the car meet, I may head over later and check that show out, too.

| That is just crazy. I guess the thrift stores around here must scuttle that stuff off right away. Great finds.

Dang! I thought I had the ACL Obs.car. Faulty memory. It was B&O. I have the same tavern car. Oh, well. Could have swapped for something. Evan
