Recently, our friend WKS motivated me to get on with this 1880's themed diorama by sending me this sweet old coach with tinted green windows. The question is, having laid a little loop of track over this river-bed-to-be is to use this surplus Hornby viaduct as a bridge (under) or as an over pass between two geologic features: bluff or mountain e.g. Please share your ideas and expertise. Setting is New England, season is going to be winter on one side, autumn on the other. I think.

I kind of like the idea of being able to see the arch on top of the layout.

Yeah, I agree. I think I will build up a series of bluffs cut by the train track with the viaduct creating an earthen wagon road between the two, with a palisades dropping to the edge of one side of the river.
Under the track the vidaduct sort of melts away. Thinking of a stone arch under the near track and a covered bridge on the far track.

Via duct up, spanning two elevations. The surplus Lionel tunnel on the right will be used as a shell to create another elevation. Trains look more interesting when they have to traverse scenery- particularly when using a simple circle.

Very nice work, so far. Keep it up! Honestly, I really like the mountainous scenery quite a bit.
