You can't make this stuff up! introducing Tractive Power Corp's TP56!
The locomotive is based on a cut-down EMD SD40 frame, and rides on a single three-axle EMD HTC bogie, It has three EMD D77 traction motors and is powered by a Caterpillar C9 industrial diesel engine rated at 375 hp.

Would make an interesting model Kit-Bash!

Might try that with a 2 axle truck. Don't have any three axle ones.

Might be able to use a small can motor and a Bachmann SD40 truck.

Now that's actually pretty cool and it would make a pretty sweet kitbash in my book.

Ok! It is cold and I cannot paint or install a new floor in my old house. So I am here at my office where it is warm. I was killing some time and this is the result.
An idea for an HTC truck kitbash. Not a TP56, but a Free Lance switcher made from an HTC truck and a SW switcher shell. You will need a HTC power truck, an SW shell, a small can motor, and some odds and ends.
The drawings are modified from the train-web site, so do not think I am a drafting guru. Those guys do great work. No frame or motor mount details just a raw idea

Happy New Year. John

John,
It looks like, if you packed lead everywhere it would fit, you'd have a pretty nice running switcher. Three axles spaced out that far would even run fairly well across switch frogs.
It's got handsome lines, too. Are you considering building it?

Don, I may build it, right now it is a exercise to keep my mind busy and provide some connection with my hobby. My stuff and family are about 180 miles north and the weather is to bad to travel, so I have a warm office and some time. I picked this idea up on another Forum, from a guy that does interesting things. I have always been mostly a free lancer so this was my idea of the engine.
