My loco this week is a score of 2 camelbacks at the OKC Train show. Unfortunately, other than these purchases, the show was a very big disappointment.
IHC, Mehano Hubbard camelback.

Mantua Red Box camelback.

Both locos came in the original boxes and show very little track time.

Well in that case you've got to try it out. If it runs or it's a really easy fix, you have a "win win" situation with this thing.

For one thing, that's a pretty cool looking locomotive. Second of all, that's a very interesting idea to bring this thing to "life".

Got another TYCO piece:
The older version of TYCO's Alco Century 430 with the Mantua MU-2 drive. So far it seems to run fine (though it needed a boost when I first powered it up.) Maybe it needs a little more maintenance too. I plan to mostly display it, and possibly do some railroad switcher use with it on my layout as well (provided I can replace the X2Fs with knuckle couplers!) It's a reminder on how good TYCO's locomotives used to be...

My LOTW is a Model Power ex-Santa Fe E9, repainted in Brunwick Green for the new Penn Central RR .
There are a couple of sections of my layout that are very PC-like, that some 6-axle diesels do not like. This one would not go through it without derailing the leading axle. The Model Power wheels have proper RP-25 contour, so not much a forgiving flange for shoddy trackwork, so I replaced the wheels on the very front and rear axles with a set of old Rivarossi "pizza cutters". No more derailment! This one has no need of a sound unit, it has a natural 'rumble'
I also swapped out the Model Power fuel tank for an extra P2K fuel tank I had laying around - looked more like the fuel tanks I saw in most of the prototype photos. Still have to put a coupler on the front.

I was wondering if this engine belonged to someone in this prestigious club of ours. The comment about hating to let it go clued me in. It's too kool for a Reading fan to just cut up for parts, so I'm going to MU-2 it. Thanks again for the opportunity!

That looks good. The black paint has exactly the look that a locomotive gets after a bit of grime has taken that new paint sheen off of it.

Well, the week is almost over, but what the hey, I'll post my LOTW anyway. I took it in to the hobby shop yesterday, and verified the Decoder was inside, and working ( Posted this engine in my On30 post last night ). My only On30 engine, I doubt I'll get into this scale deeper than this one unit, only because it was a small industrial diesel. I changed the address to other than 3, and it's now ready to go Open Housing the next time. I even have two On30 cattle stock cars I can pull behind it, too. :)

That little Davenport critter is pretty accurate to the way Davenport locomotives are put together. I'm familiar with a VERY much bigger Davenport, but it's frame is fabricated the same way. The walkways and stirrup steps are the same and the cab and hood have the same basic shapes. The rods are how Davenport gets power to the front wheels.
I don't know whether this is a faithful model of a particular prototype, but if not, the builder still captured the look and feel of the brand.

I definitely like that Davenport loco, Jerry. Looks awesome. Heck, I think I've seen this exact model a couple of times at train shows, actually.
