Your junk is getting better! This week, mine is a Bachmann 2-8-2 , got it in a 3-engine lot a few weeks ago. Missing front truck axle/wheels and the roof, but otherwise looks intact. Haven't tried it yet. I mostly bought the lot for the Mantua steam bicentennial loco. But this one seems to be rather nicely built, the shell is all metal, which surprised me, this is a modern Bachmann. I may have to try to fix this one, when I did a search on it, it came up with B&O, which is a road name I'm fond of. Needs a Vanderbilt tender, I may have one close. Anyway, not as impressive a pile as Mustang's garage-full of "junk", but it's mine.

I see those things at train shows all the time. The steam engines may look pretty good, but sooner or later it'll suffer the cracked axle issue which is caused by the pancake motor they had at the time.

That's a pretty darn nice-looking Reading 2-8-4 (is that what that is?) at the top of the picture. Your junk is still not quite crummy enough to be junk

Jackpot today at the GTE show in Albany.

Mantua 4-4-2, nice shape, Sagami can motor with flywheel, nothing missing, decent Reading paint. $65.

Sean; Now I see lurking around in the top left of you pile of Mantua stuff a New One old time tender. It would look good behind a 2-6-0 camelback I am planning now. Now mine for this week is something I got from Charlie . It came in a lot of trains. It is a failed attempt at making a 2-6-6-2 drive from mantua parts. At the time it would have been cheaper to just buy a Mantua 2-6-6-2. Now some determined modeler gave it a go and tried to build one with Mantua parts. For someone it was a idea. For me that is what it is. A lot of parts to use in some project locomotive.

Hello Frank,

Sorry, It sold for a whopping $4.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-HO-PHILADELPHIA-READING-STEAM-LOCOMOTIVE-STEAM-LOCOMOTIVE-TENDER-PARTS-/371186993193?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item566c780829

I would have gladly sent it toy you. I may have another one laying around. I'll look. I think they went to the 4-2-2 New One Model / Aristo Craft engine. I think I do have a couple of those in bad shape. If I do, I'll throw a tender your way.

Any Thomas Rogers tenders? I found a dead Thomas Rogers that someone pitched, minus the tender and pilot wheelset, and with a bent cowcatcher. Just for the hell of it I want to see if it can be made to run.

I'd have to dig them out and see which is which, IIRC the tenders are identical except lettering on several engines.
