Hi All,
I received this Tyco F unit today. It has no fuel tank ( weight ). I am thinking of sliding some washers over the plastic piece that comes down from the roof and holding them in with a screw in the center. Any thoughts would be great.
Thanks Mike

Washers would work. Might also suggest A-Line's small square weights with self-adhesive backing.
Here's a link to the A-Line weights at the Walthers site...

They break apart into individual sections, so you can use as many or as few as needed. They work well.

| Does your loco have three mounting slots on each side of the skirting? My Tyco F-unit looks a bit different on the inside. If yours has the mounting slots, I have the fuel tank/weight. Pay for shipping and you can have the piece.

Hi Tony, Hypoponera,
Thanks for the responses. I will check the Walthers site and see what they have. How much weight ( MAX ) can I put in there without damaging the motor?
My engine does not have the three slots in the skirt. Thanks very much for the offer though.
Thanks again Mike

I have 2 different F-units
The Mantua-Tyco has the MU-2 motor and the loco is stock with a weight of 11 oz. The Tyco with the sideskirt mounting slots is incomplete. The tank and weights come out to 5 oz. I would guess that the complete loco wouldn't weigh much more then 10 oz.
The MU-2 motored loco could probably handle an extra 2 or 3 oz. However, the added weight must be well balanced to be of value.
I wouldn't recommend adding much weight to any loco with the PT-type motor. It just is too fragile to handle the added strain. Heck, it doesn't seem to do well with the locos at stock weight!

Hi Hypoponera,
Thanks for the info. I will keep the weight in that range.
Thanks Mike
