Anyone out there have any idea who manufactured these little beauties? Am thinking about getting them and restoring them.

This is the undersides.

Any ideas or opinions would be much appreciated.

The red coach looks like a 1950's Mantua old timer coach. That's about all I know about the lot.

| E-units might be Hobbytown shells.

Oh, and another thing. There seems to be some sort of writing on the inside of the shell on one of your E unit. It could just be paint but it's worth checking if you haven't.

Not with the wooden floors I think. Could they be 'OK' streamliners?
I should look through my early 50s MR to see if I can find the diseasels.

No, nothing here by Fleischmann and Herkimer OK cars were aluminum representing stainless steel streamline cars.
I just bought a baggage car of similar construction because for $3 it came with a set of Central Valley trucks. Tin body, wood floor.
I'm pretty certain the locomotives are Hobbytown -

Ok. I won the set and will get it around the 1st of December and can check out the printing on the inside of the loco shell. I swear that I've seen this set somewhere before, but I cannot, for the life of me, remember where or when.
Total cost (minus the red old time car) was $20.00, postage included.

$20 for that? Not too bad, especially considering how it's all still usable for something.

SAMPSON.
Your passenger cars were made by the Sampson Model Company around 1948-50-ish. Extruded magnesium alloy shells with extremely crude sand-cast (I think) magnesium end pieces. The Obs is a dead giveaway with its separately-cast end. All cars had these kinda funny floors, either wood or chipboard.
I've only ever seen one (my one obs, unfinished in box, with Varney trucks), so this is an exceptional find here, especially for only $20 including two E-units! Very cool

Thank you PRR.... You wouldn't happen to know what type of trucks would work to make the loco work again, would you. The only reason I got this set was because the man that got me really interested in trains had one on his layout, back in 1959-60. Diesel-wise I am not.

All I can say is yes, these are Hobbytown E7's, but I'm afraid I don't know where one can find trucks or other parts for them. I notice these are not powered though - are you planning to power the A-unit?

George, it would be great to locate an original Hobbytown drive for it - but as an alternative I don't think it would be too difficult to mount the 'A' locomotive shell on a newer chassis like a Model Power/Roco E 7/8/9. They are heavy, pretty good runners and include a flywheel.

I'm planning on getting the set restored and fully functional. I've already located the truck bolsters for the passenger cars. Now to find the trucks.
I found the instructions for the passenger cars and that will help on restoring those. Now to locate the parts I need to get the locos running again.
Thanks for all of the help guys. When I remembered where I saw this set, it brought back some really fond memories from long, long ago.
I found the loco set. It's a Hobbytown EMC E-7. There's a couple on eBay that I'm gonna try to get for parts.

On the scent for the trucks for the Hobby town EMC E-7 A and B units. If I can get them, they will both be powered.

| Since I'm gonna do a restore on this set, I will continue the thread in Customizing and Kitbashing since that is more appropriate.
