For this week, my SOTW is a 1994 Mantua Reading saddle tank train pack. The reason I got it was because it was considerably cheap ($40), plus the tank engine is so dang cool looking. I just knew I couldn't pass this thing up. After putting it on the tracks, it ran pretty dang good. One of the main problems right off the bat was that the bell had kinda come out of one of it's sockets so it was flopping around on the locomotive which made it look wrong. Thankfully though, I was able to fix it quite easily and everything turned out okay. Now the only problem with the set really is one of the chains on the flat car broke off with makes the load kinda flap around, causing derailments and whatnot. You can also tell there's a bit of a decline in quality from the Dixie Belle train pack I have, which is from the same brand but was made almost 10 years earlier. Especially since they appear to be made in China. In the end, I like it and that's really all the matters.

"A lot of modellers out there who go to these train shows see broken HO stuff and go, 'This is useless' when, in reality, they can still be used for modeling whether it's as a prop on your layout or a cool project to make something old new again."
