My AOTW is a pair of Tyco Blinking Billboards. The top one is the original 1960s version shown in the early Tyco catalogs for a short time. Seldom seen on ebay / elsewhere... The lower photo is the very common version...

Nice sign, Walt. Love learning new stuff about Tyco. :)
My AOTW is a group of uncolored people. Well, I guess beige IS a color, right? Picked these up at the Carlisle flea on Friday, along with that Bicentennial loco from the same vendor. May have to try my hand at flavoring them someday.

| Tyco is tops. Love the classic bridge-n-circle. Beats video games any time.

You're right, Metalsmith. This piece can be used in many forms. Pictured is one I had on my layout in the mid 1970s. I pulled it from my junk box, scuff sanded it and sprayed it with a concrete colored paint. This piece will have a spot on both my old, and present layout some 38 years later!

Those are some good looking HO people. I like the color and tone of the paint on them. The clothes look like they could really be cloth and not just a shiny paint job. Did you paint them?

I finally have a popular Bachmann "operating accessory"...
/tyco/forum/uploaded/wiley209/20141009222727_modeltrainpics1009-02.jpg The Gandy Dancer: a popular Bachmann favorite since 1980. Mine is in the 1980-1997 packaging style. /tyco/forum/uploaded/wiley209/20141009222810_modeltrainpics1009-03.jpg Back of the package. As some of you may know, along with the handcar, that crossing gate and (crappy) diesel horn tank are still available, but the blinking bridge was discontinued in the late 1990s.
/tyco/forum/uploaded/wiley209/20141009222935_modeltrainpics1009-04.jpg Out of the box and on my layout. It does have a little trouble running on certain areas, but generally I treat it like an analog/non-DCC locomotive.
Back in 1996, Bachmann came out with this train set that included the handcar:
The Cannonball Express! The main gimmick of it was including a passing siding and the handcar. I read in the 1996 catalog they had a TV commercial for it too, depicting the train chasing the handcar. (I imagine they thought kids would get a thrill out of acting out such a thrilling scene with model trains.)

| That's cool Wiley. Now you can try and act out that scene . . . maybe even post a video for us.

Yeah I remember those accessories that Bachmann had. I had that blinking bridge at one time and it caused the train to run erratically when it was blinking, even with clean track. I ended up disabling the blinker to eliminate the problem.

I'm going to get a 4' x 6' piece of plywood and mount it after laying a green mat over it with a few buildings and trees for a compact layout, maybe a white board for a winter scene to use at Christmas time.

My little brother has that exact same poster in his room.
