Would you like a little vinegar with those flakes, Walt? Or is it pickles? I forget which kind of car this is. Bought this at the Carlisle flea in a lot with the Bicentennial loco. He had some good stuff! This tanker is a bit leaky, has a hole on top, will have to fill that in and fix it, but otherwise in fantastic shape. I relish getting it fixed.

Ben, This one is the AHM car. I know that You & I have the Tyco version(s). I'm not even sure where this one come from but it is a mild, but good looking piece...
Jerry! I will pass on the vinegar on my flakes but could get a little C&H sugar for them!

My COTW comes from the $1 box at a hobby shop in Wildwood NJ. I think it is a Varney - missing a few handrails and marker lights, but otherwise in great shape.

JNXT, I've got that exact caboose you've got there! Anyway, my COTW is a Revell 1956 H0 scale Great Northern box car with opening doors. (Wow, that was wordy. ) Anyway, I got it for $5 and it's not too bad, I must say. Without further to do, here's the photo.

Great buy Stephen - incredible for $5. And in the box at that!
It wasn't until I was looking through my buys that I recognized that caboose as the one like yours. I think I'm going to fix the handrails and then leave it as is, an unmarked red caboose.

Why thank you, JNXT. That's why I got it, actually. Because it was so cheap for what it was.

picked this up at a used model train shop. I believe this is from a Pennzoil themed train set by Model Power.

I first listed this hopper on here as Tyco... But then noticed it was dressed down more than I remembered the Tyco version being. So I searched ebay for "Kellogg's Hopper", and quickly found the AHM piece shown here... I like the clean, quiet look of the AHM hopper...

My car of the week remains in my imagination, but I've got enough parts now so my plan is to cut up this cardstock side (printed from an image scoured off the net) and do up a Mantua Metal Products box car in to a Colorado Midland road name. So . . . good Lord willin' and the creek don't rise . . . maybe before too long I'll be able to post a photo . . .

I picked this up yesterday for only $5.00. A Varney Monon hopper with coal load. I put on trucks from the parts bin. In real life, it would be a pre-1956 car, as it has CIL reporting marks. In 1956 the reporting marks changed to MON.
