I picked up an RTR Walthers 50 foot flat car that had a trailer hitch at one end, but no trailer.
I removed the hitch and placed a PVC-pipe fitting- bashed fuel tank and some spare oil tank ring sections from a Walthers Cornerstone oil dealer kit that i had in my spare parts drawer.
The model already came with metal wheels and Kadee clones, so all I did was mask and paint+weather the original yellow deck to look more wood-like.
I used "outdoor grade" polyester thread to make the cable lashings and the cleats on both load items were fashioned from balsa wood, then painted black (to look like they had been creosoted.
Hope you like it.

"A lot of modellers out there who go to these train shows see broken HO stuff and go, 'This is useless' when, in reality, they can still be used for modeling whether it's as a prop on your layout or a cool project to make something old new again."
