Over the weekend on a road trip, I came across this early HO locomotive. I bought it with a brass Mantua Belle. Not quite sure who made this loco, but looks pretty cool. I think it is a Pacific type 4-6-2? It is brass over diecast with a brass frame. Good details. Anyone know the manufacturer, or is it scratchbuild?

Thanks
David

Hey Sean . This one is for you. I don't know ! To me it looks like a scratch build brass loco with some die cast pieces cut out on something else.

Frame might be Varney. Boiler is scratch or someone else's.

That is a Varney pacific and the boiler is a Varney boiler which has been heavily altered and wrapped in brass. I think it is a nice find. I enjoy collecting the vintage unfinished projects myself. I see a bit of irony in them sometimes..

You mean the fact that they look unfinished a lot of times?

More of a personal self reflection I guess.

Thank You all for the info. I thought there was some Varney in this mixed breed. I will probably keep this one unpainted to show the nice "patina", and add a Varney Pacific tender. Hopefully it will not take too much to get it working.
