Just tossing out a few quickies, of things I've done to some Tycos to better please my own modeler's eye (talk about an exercise in futility [:p] ):

So even if we're stuck with an incorrect blue car, what if Tyco had at least put PacMan where he belonged (on the end)? To answer that question, I stripped the factory Pacman with acetone, then whipped up my own decals. Of course the acetone stripped off the blue paint too, but the car is molded in a similar color so it's generally passable. Jury's still out as to whether this was worth the effort or not, but I had to try it.

I had a couple extras of these after assembling the set. So I swapped the roof panels, to better evoke what a "prototypical" billboard car might have looked like. I mean, why would anyone bother to paint the roof of a center flow differently?
Unlike the CP Rail car... the difference is immediate, striking, and much for the better IMHO. I greatly prefer the cars this way. They even look bigger, too. The yellow roof (from Morton) is a near-perfect match to the Domino. The blue roof (from Domino) is a little different then the Morton blue, but only subtly so. Well worth the effort to switch these, and fairly easy to do.

Another frustrating Tyco-ism: They release a model of an E7 long after they were relevant - and give it that stupid Vampire truck when they actually had tooling for a passable EMD "E" truck! But then the only loco they put those on, was the SD24. ARRGH!
Fortunately Rocky Mountain Line SD24s are cheap and I had an extra, so I swapped the sideframes. This E7 immediately looks more "believable" (in a manner of speaking). Now if only I could shiny up the chrome....

The TYCO E-7 does look better with the SD24 trucks under it.
For some reason TYCO's E-7 was popular with those with a desire to re-power it from my experience. A number of times at swap meets I've seen the UP City of San Francisco E-7 with various underframes added, usually Athearn and something like the SD45.
This is further odd, when you consider that Hobbytown, AHM, and Model Power would have all had E-unit underframes available that might have been both good runners and better looking fits for this model.
