This is some of the other cheap-o stuff I picked up on Sunday. I'll post pictures of the show layouts soon. Evan The most expensive one was the cab forward at $20 All the others together came to $27 including the Hiawatha. The GN cars were $10 each.

$20 for an H0 scale cab forward loco? Good gosh, what was that seller thinking when he priced it?

That first locomotive, I think it's an FA1. I just sold a power chassis just like that one on ebay for $10.00. Nice prices. Train shows have some great deals.

I know! These were all from just two tables. The Roco FA was a cool find. I thought that drive was only sold with the D&H Shark. That and the Athearns were sold by a couple selling their grandsons stuff. He had a narrow gauge layout, so probably despised "ordinary" HO stuff. I can live with that. The Rivarossi was all consignment at another table, so priced to sell. No duh! My pal David from the LHS is also jealous of my Hiawatha.

OK there should be a law against this.
Really, especially when confronted with all these insane buys after an hour of browsing ebay. Honestly, I wonder at the mental health of the ebay sellers and obviously buyers too - because after all, if no one was buying at those prices it couldn't continue could it?
I know it has all been posted and ranted before. I remember, was it around 1982-85 or so....when "collectibles", or should I say "manufactured collectibles" first made their appearance - mostly as diecast NASCAR items and other things like the Cabbage Patch dolls. In other words, things that were produces as "instant" collectibles with premium prices (or false collectibles in my view - whereas before a collectible only became so because it was rare/desireable because of true age/rarity).
And now this pervades ebay and the local antique stores with inflated prices on items that are really just....kind of old.
BUT... before I hijack the entire thread, these are the buys that do make it all worthwhile, aren't they? Astounding!

Don't know about that Micro-B....I see PLENTY of DC items at train shows, antique stores and on ebay that sport "DCC" prices!
