After two summers, I finally finished these NJ transit fantasy engines......
This is an IHC GG1 double motor in a NJ Transit scheme. NJ Transit did use grey engines from the mid- 80's until now. This took 3 tries to get it right. I switched to the gray color because the silver is too hard to work with as there is too much masking required. The tape pulls some of the silver color off..... The handrails are molded into the shell but I managed to paint them the correct color of orange. I finished this with a 50/50 mix of Testor's Gloss/Dullcoat..... It also has directional LED headlights.....
This was a Tyco Industrial Switcher.... I finished this last summer.....
This is a Tyco Plymouth Industrial Switcher......
This was an Athearn GP50-II undecorated shell.... This is a near perfect job....

Nice repaints AF Kid. They actually look somewhat believable.

That's some quality paint work, there. Could you tell me some details about how you did it? Type of spray gun, mix ratio, etc. Thanks.

Badger 200 Airbrush using a small compressor. I use Testor's Enamel paint. I thin the paint by approximation. I have been doing this for a while.... A couple of these models I have done 4-5 times before I am satisfied with the results. The microscale NJ Transit decals are hard to put on. I have been using their decal set which seems to get the decals to adhere with less air bubbles in them..... I also use a lot of 3m Blue painters tape for masking. HTH /Pete

Hi Pete. Your NJT paint looks very good to me. Lots of work there. Good work ! You can see NJT being a state owned road, did whatever it could to build and maintain there locomotive fleet. Keep up the good work. Frank
