Recently John (JRG) started a thread that chronicled his packing progress for an upcoming move. I thought it was a great idea, with my own move approaching in the coming year - so here begins my own box by box record. Sorry for the poor photos, I was going for content and not quality.

Hopefully Jerry is moving to the Zanesville area so he can do my train track ballast when I'm ready...

Walt - we are heading south to Texas...but honestly I wouldn't mind Ohio at all. Put me in the Hocking Hills area and I'd be happy
And track ballasting is one of more fun parts to landscape, I'd be glad to do it

Bet you are glad to finally get some of that done. I don't mind the thought of retirement and living in Texas, but all the stuff heading up to that...

Except that RI caboose, of course. Not a fan of most Marx stuff myself.
It's so easy to accumulate too much... not that I'd turn up my nose at Jerry's stuff if he asked me to take it off his hands during the move.

This one is cool, Jerry! I bought one of these about 14 years ago and sold it when I decided to follow my 1970s Tyco thoughts... Imagine this thing pushing slot cars off the crossings!!

Walt - I am a sucker for big U.P. power. I don't really model U.P. otherwise and so they are kind of oddballs on my layout but I love them. I had a couple of the early Bachmann Centennials with the pancake drives but they didn't last long - they were train show junk items anyway. When Bachmann came out with the 2-can motor drive I HAD to grab one Would have liked to get the Athearn one but that just ain't gonna happen

Yeah. I know at least one or two of those things still exist. I've seen them in videos made 5 to 10 years ago.Plus, I saw one of them at a museum in Ogden, Utah.

Ah, IHC. "The finest scale model railroad products from around the world." They exaggerated a little bit there with that statement. They do make decent model trains in terms of performance though. I know that because I have two of them and they both run beautifully.Anyway, nice stuff you've got in that lot.

IHC gets some flak for their fantasy paint schemes and stuff, but I think they put out some decent items that could be massaged into about anything you wanted them to be. I'd like to see some company fill that niche again. On the bright side, I'm sure there's more than enough product out there to meet the needs of my lifetime!

And by the way, a very special place is reserved in Model Railroading Hell for those manufacturers (no names need be mentioned) who sell locomotives partially disassembled, that when fully assembled will not fit back into their boxes without significant modification of the box. Special Dishonorable Mention to Life-Like/Walthers for their P2K locos, that require removal of the shells to go back into the boxes.

Jerry, A lot of cool stuff!
Ah MB, The Morrison Knudsen Rebuilt E-8s and E-9s lasted on the BN into the early 90s. They were sold to a leasing company and leased for BN commuter service. Some survived until 1993. Regards John ************************

I should mention, although I would say most will know this already - we're getting into a lot of stuff where the box doesn't always match what is in it. Really that is the norm for most all my stuff

You're quite right about some engines being in their wrong boxes. I saw at least several engines in the wrong boxes.
