I am constantly searching for the "perfect" HO train storage/carry containers, and this week, I hit upon one that is rather handy. Wal-mart recently started re-carrying the deep Plano 4-row container, which will hold HO cars and engines albeit a bit big, but every other organizer is too small, it has to be at least 2.2 inches high to clear things like train horns, etc.

Anyway, I was wandering the sports/fishing area this week at one store, and noticed something new. It is an organizer case by Keter, Wal-mart had them in the far corner of the store where misc. sporting and hardware items go. I took it down, looked it over, hmm. Might work! Has a carry handle, 3 rows to hold trains, and two other smaller compartments. $5.97. Not bad. So, I bought one, and took it to work to try it out on my train engines I have there Here's what it looks like -

Unlike so many other cases, this one is deep/wide enough to hold engines, but not so much so that there is wasted space. I put some foam caps in it, along with the dividers, to hold this engine in the middle, which gives me smaller storage space on either side. I think this will be an excellent transport case for engines I'm working on, since I don't need to carry many, and it has a built-in handle, unlike so many others. You lose one row, but that's a trade-off I can handle. With the solid locking snap-loks, it won't spring open easily, I don't think, even if dropped. With a bit of foam cushioning, this case suits me for the purpose I need. I had to look in several different Wal-marts to find these, as not all of them are carrying them right now. Two out of 4 wal-marts I hit have them, but just a few at each of those stores. I bought three so far, and I may get more, as it's been hard to find cases that are not too big, and not too small, and the price is right, too.

Anyway, just thought I'd pass this on in case anyone is interested.

I don't think you did too bad on that case, Jerry. I can see it being useful for you.
