Cool Idea,
How about a UFO crash site on a layout. Not much room would be needed. I wonder if ET is available in HO.

Sometimes I think I work in area 51.

Regards, John.

I actually know someone who actually attempted that in H0 scale!

"A lot of modellers out there who go to these train shows see broken HO stuff and go, 'This is useless' when, in reality, they can still be used for modeling whether it's as a prop on your layout or a cool project to make something old new again."

Neat concept, although the scenery is very plain and it's almost more of a showcase of as many UFO models as they could get their hands on. The lighting probably adds a lot. I wouldn't mind having a few of those models for my own layout!

Two of these: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Futuro
Lucky them... there's not many left!

Also, If you want aliens in HO scale, how about the one in a time-traveling blue box?

What can I say, I'm a bit of a space-case.

Those Futuro houses posted above are sweet. Too bad the concept never caught on; I'd live in one!

The Futuro home is around the Franklin, Ohio area just minutes south of Dayton. The Futuro info shows a home being one round dome...So was this one that I spotted a space craft "double wide"??

Here is a saucer shaped building that is actually a rail road car repair facility in Wood River Il. It is one of two geodesic domes that were built by a tank car manufacturer, the other was built in Louisiana but has since been demolished. There is a turntable in the center and tracks that radiate out roundhouse style. When the KCS demolished the other one it was a bit of a scandal. There had been some effort to place the structure on the list of historic buildings in that it was built under the direction of R. Buckminster Fuller using his geodesic dome principle. KCS was bent on removing the structure so they had it quietly destroyed over a holiday weekend when protesters would not be present. In researching Buckminster Fuller for a research paper I came across a plan of his for an even larger structure. In reading his ideas I must say that he made a believer out of me. He proposed that if this type of structure could be built as a sphere, at the diameter of a half of a mile it would become buoyant in the atmosphere. At the diameter of a mile the structure could be habitable and would simply float aloft in the clouds. Makes one wonder if something like this might have actually been built in area 51 to test his theory....it would explain a great many sightings of huge aircraft.

Member rgcw5 had the idea of: Marvin the Martian had crashed his flying saucer and while the police and fire were investigating, Marvin was at a nearby phone booth calling AAA for assistance.

Unspoken expectations are premeditated failures.
