Before I show you the pictures, my dad got this at a train show last year and ever since then I had this interesting curiosity to find out what the heck the thing I'm about to show you is. Anywho, here's the photos.

This thing is actually pretty cool. It looks cool, it has pretty good detail, and it even has opening doors on the sides.Anyway, who made this box car?

"A lot of modellers out there who go to these train shows see broken HO stuff and go, 'This is useless' when, in reality, they can still be used for modeling whether it's as a prop on your layout or a cool project to make something old new again."

That was one of my guesses but I just wanted to clarify.

Athearn, no question. Probably a Bev-Bel or some other custom paint, my book shows Athearn only offering this car in a red GN scheme.

Some body shells have a part number inside of them.

I'm pretty sure it's a custom just by looking at it closely. The decals are literally stickers that you can buy at a hobby shop.

Yes, custom, I can just barely see the decal film. I've got this car in Burlington, PRR, SAL, Frisco, NS (the shortline), CE&I, GN (red, as microben mentioned), SP, and a few others.
